Garlic Grower Tony Hatfield-Nicholson is
one of Central Pennsylvania's foremost authorities on garlic.
Tony literally lives and breaths garlic. Tony and his wife
Sharon moved to Mifflintown, Pennsylvania several years ago.
The former teacher and his wife have formed, Juniata Stinking
Rose, a thriving garlic growing business beginning with a harvest
of 75 pounds to over 10,000 pounds today. According
to Tony, "garlic is not just garlic". There are two
basic types - softneck and hard neck. There are over 400 different
varieties of garlic. Juniata Stinking Rose grows 27 different
types.
